Nepal Tourism Board held a tourism presentation at the President Hotel in Seoul on May 9th, inviting travel industry officials and journalists to announce their future plans.
At the presentation held in the Brahms Hall on the 9th floor of the hotel, organized by the Nepal Cultural Tourism Office, Dhananjay Regmi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, announced plans to target the global market with interesting and diverse itineraries based on cultural, historical, and racial diversity, moving away from the previous focus solely on mountain tourism.
Regmi explained that Nepal, home to Mount Everest and 8 out of the world’s top 10 mountains, including Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Manaslu, and Annapurna, has long been recognized as a mecca for mountain tourism such as trekking and climbing. However, it is also possible to develop travel products suitable for the purposes and ages of travelers, such as religious tours centered around Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, and historical and cultural tours that allow visitors to enjoy the clean nature.
Regmi also stated that the Nepal Tourism Board will develop various tourism products tailored to the needs of different ages and purposes in collaboration with travel industry experts in Korea, actively promoting them through media outlets such as bloggers, Instagrammers, and influencers to increase customer satisfaction and interest in visiting Nepal.
The Nepal Tourism Board is pursuing an aggressive marketing policy to overcome the impact of COVID-19, such as actively participating in the Seoul International Tourism Fair (SITF2023) held at COEX Exhibition Center in Samsung-dong, Seoul from May 4th to 7th, with the largest delegation among participating countries.
With Nepal’s various efforts and initiatives, it is expected to become a KEY destination in the Korean tourism market in the future.
