충북 보은 속리산 법주사는 신라 진흥왕 14년인 553년에 창건된 산사다. 경내에는 국내에서 유일하게 남은 5층 목탑 팔상전과 통일신라 쌍사자 석등, 석련지 등 국보 3점이 있고, 숲 위로 33m 금동미륵대불이 솟는다. 2018년에는 ‘산사, 한국의 산지 승원’으로 유네스코 세계유산에 등재됐다. 2026년 현재 관람료는 무료여서 속리산 숲길과 함께 천천히 둘러보기 좋다.
